Our story
Rooted in the community. Growing with its needs.
Central Nursing Home began in August 1979 as the Poly Clinic, founded by the late Dr. Somasundaram Balasundaram to provide day-and-night medical services to the people of Negombo.
It started with 16 team members—including two doctors and ten nurses—and provided OPD and labour-ward services. In 1998, Dr. Kandiah Jeyalingam assumed ownership and expanded the facility to include ward care, a laboratory, specialist consultations and a pharmacy.
Management was handed to Dr. Jeyalingam Sajitharan in 2007. The nursing home continued to develop its clinical services and facilities, while retaining the personal, accessible approach on which it was founded.
